I know luxury car deprecation blah blah blah, but these things are a steal. The example pictured above is ‘15 with just under 33 thousand miles on it for the price of a Camry.
Or this 2015, with just 2900 miles on it for 40 grand. Even if you go a year or 2 old (2017-2018) you’re still going to pay in the range of the high 40's low 50's. Don’ t know how reliable these are, but you cant ignore these prices.

It’s one of those cars you buy twice.
Once, as a complete unit, then again piece-by-piece as it falls apart from underneath you.
Unless you’re wealthy or have a Car muro warranty, fuggedaboutit.

I read reviews that basically said they phoned it in. You get all the reliability issues and good looks of a Maserati, but none of the fun.
![]() 03/26/2019 at 15:34 |

because they’re trash, the interior quality sucks, they break 24/7, and you can buy a better car with a more discrete badge easily

Cheapest way to get a Ferrari engine.

By all accounts (owner reviews, Youtubers, mainstream reviewers) it’s because they are complete and absolute crap.

True. You can find old Coupes from like 2005 for like 15-16 grand.

That car is not worth the pain of owning a Maserati.

Yea I wouldn’ t touch one. This seems like one of those vehicles that has stuff start to go wrong at 35 thousand miles. Annoying stuff.

Ha never that. I have more sense than to blow money on money pit supercars.

It makes financial sense if you can turn it into a successful Y outube channel.

To me they come across as a poser mobile. It was always about getting the brand more volume of course, but that always seems to come at the experience of diluting some part of the brand or the vehicle, depending on the brand of course. I see the Ghibli in the same vein as the Mercedes CLA.
![]() 03/26/2019 at 15:56 |

Are they really that bad?
![]() 03/26/2019 at 15:56 |

You have to decide whether that engine and exhaust sound is worth the spotty reliability (some swear that it’s not any worse than a BMW 5 Series, but who knows), the lacklustre looks (OK, Maser has a great front end look), the downmarket interior and mediocre rear seat space (somewhat mitigated by choosing a non-black interior colour), the awful dealer network, etc.
Having heard a Ghibli in person, they sound worlds apart from your run-of-the-mill German. It sounds better than an M3.

I actually have ever looked into how bad these things are. I just found it strange that these things are this cheap. But that would explain why.

I don’t have firsthand experience. But a friend was a tech at a Ferrari/Maserati dealer until about a year ago. He says they’re garbage and he’s not one to trash talk anything "nicer" than he can or ever will afford.
![]() 03/26/2019 at 16:13 |
|
Its a good analogy. Both were supposed to be the volume sellers. For the CLA, it seems to have worked, I don’t think the Ghibli got close to its sales goals though.

No, it’s gárbagio
![]() 03/26/2019 at 16:19 |

It does sound good I have heard a few accelerate from a stop. Bu t all those things you mentioned make this thing a no go for buyers if they really do some research into it. The dealer network alone is a mark against it. They are chasing volume, but still have a boutique dealer network.
![]() 03/26/2019 at 16:21 |

Yea real old men. I like the previous gen. The current gen is invisible and they followed the luxury car playbook design of lets make every car look like the one above and below it. It just looks like a Ghibli L.
![]() 03/26/2019 at 16:23 |
|
Oh yea if a tech is saying its trash, its trash.
![]() 03/26/2019 at 16:23 |

yeah but it also comes with the V8, as far as i know the gibli only comes with a V6
![]() 03/26/2019 at 16:34 |

The CLA worked, but it brought in the badge whores who cant see past the the star on the hood. The Ghibli didnt seem to do that for the most part. Im sure its brought new buyers to the brand, but they still sell less than 1000 every month.
![]() 03/26/2019 at 16:40 |
|
True. I’ m still surprised they haven’ t given us a hotter version of the Ghibli other than the SQ4. They gave the Levante a GTS variant and its only been on the market about 2 years.

No, because it’s from an Axis Power. Just like the Lambo & Bentley.

These cars are really bad. Have you test drove one? Even the sq4 feel sluggish. I know you get a badge but it’s still not worth it. The interior is not premium with so many parts also being in a Chevy, You’ll pay Maserati maintenance. Like a girl, maybe it’s pretty but it’s way too fat. It can afford to lose a thousand something pounds, especially considering ppl actually think Maserati is a sports car company. When I see one, I just know there goes someone foolish, he wants a badge, if you take it away, you’re left with something less than a v6 Camry. Question, what's actually making you think this is a good car?
![]() 03/26/2019 at 19:15 |
|
Because they are shite cars and the Grand Turismo is a better car to buy overall and to look at when it inevitably breaks on you.
![]() 03/26/2019 at 19:20 |

And you can find factory certified 2015's in the mid 30's

Why are Maserati Ghibli’s so cheap?
So many reasons.

Its not a Ferrari engine. It's a pentastar block with a fancy head.

Someone last week traded in a 15 Ghibli S into my Honda store. Had like 55k miles or something close. $24k and it could've been yours.
![]() 03/26/2019 at 22:26 |

Nah I’m good. Someone trading a Maserati for a Honda should tell one everything they need to know.
![]() 03/26/2019 at 23:13 |

It’s a Pentastar built to “Ferrari’s specifications”. I was taking liberties for effect.
Also, it sounds great.
